摘要

In this paper, an efficient method is developed to reconstruct and recognize internally broken handwritten digits. The extracted structural points and skeletons are used to describe the structure of handwritten digits. The pattern models of internally broken handwritten digits are constructed and reconstruction and recognition of these digits are made based on the morphological structural analysis of their pattern models and their skeleton structure analysis. The method has been tested with broken digits extracted from NIST database and provides a reconstruction and recognition rate of 99.3%.
