Information Technology and Math-Engineering Education in R.Macedonia A Work in Progress

In R.Macedonia as in many universities around the world, engineering colleges are being forced to change the way mathematics is taught in order to meet the demands of today's engineers. Following a study into the particular problems that our institution faces with respect to this problem, we decided to reorganize and change the first-year mathematics curriculum for the first and second semester course in Mathematics. Our goals were to change the material to match the needs of the engineering courses, to reorganize the way the classes were taught and the testing methods and to increase the student's access to and knowledge of the technology used in the mathematics of everyday engineering. This paper discusses our progress and experiences in this modernization process.
