Research on Virtual Product Development based on Product Data Management

摘要

Virtual Product Management (VPM) has been becoming more important in CIMS (Computer Integration Manufacturing System) technology and Virtual Product Development (VPD) is a key tool for Virtual Product Management. New product development of industrial enterprise need to integrate Product Data Management (PDM) and VPD efficiently to adapt to the word-wide competition, respond to product changes rapidly, reduce time to market and increase profitability. PDM has develop into VPD age, it can provide great benefits to VPD in industrial enterprise. In this paper, first traditional /real product development processes and its disadvantages are introduced. Next, VPD and its comparison with traditional /real product development are discussed. Then, the paper gives the framework VPD based on PDM and discuss its key technologies. Finally, conclusions and further work are drawn out.
