As Mechatronics systems become more complex or more variables have to be considered and how they interact with other systems, the need to know their behavior before the system is constructed is necessary mainly because of two reasons: avoid trial-and-error approaches until the system is working as specified and in several cases save money. These two requirements can be solved for many mechatronic systems by using modeling CAD tools. There are several CAD tools on the market that simulate electrical, mechanical and electronic systems together, helping the designer to choose the appropriate components and starting conditions, This paper reviews the available support tools (such as VHDL-AMS~®, HDL-A~®, ABM modules from OrCad~®, etc) for the design of mechatronic systems including micro-mechatronic ones.
