A Methodological Framework for Evaluating Applications of Advanced Technologies in Public Transportation

In recent years a number of Advanced Technologies Applications (ATA) have been proposed as a mechanism for improving the quality of services and the efficiency of Pubic Transportation Systems. Demonstration and pilot projects stressing the importance of application of Advanced Technologies in Public Transportation have been under development in the United States and abroad. The proper evaluation of the potential user benefits and associated costs stemming from the application of Advanced Technologies in Public Transportation, is a research issue largely untapped. The objective of this paper to develop an integrated methodological framework for evaluating the benefits associated with the introduction of advanced technologies in public transportation operations.
