Evidence based Medicine (EBM), "is the thoughtful, judicious and explicit use of the best available evidence to make decisions". Physicians in daily practice need to make adequate and timely decisions, what involve multifactorial analysis and computer based routines for data and information processing; they need to acquire, generate, and transmit knowledge. Traditional methods are not enough any more to face problems and approach the above mentioned matters. They should be replaced with others. The introduction and adoption of the systemic approach allows a new way of thinking, a practical philosophy and new method for a change. It adds new perspectives to measurement, explanation, validation, and experimentation, and includes flexible variables such as values, judgments, beliefs and feelings. There is in Santiago del Estero (Argentine) a team of graduates and advanced students of Informatics together with physicians and residents in the Independencia Hospital who have started a research project with the name of "Evidence Based Surgical Knowledge. Design and Development of a Decision Support System". In this article, with the aim to obtaining a more efficient design model for a Surgical Practice and Treatment Support System (SPTSS), it is applied the methodological proposition for systems design which was created by BeLa Banathy.
