The purpose of dye transfer inhibition (DTI) technology is to eliminate or reduce the redeposition of soluble dye from wash liquor. A number of polymers will complex with the dye and inhibit redeposition. Current polymer technologies include poly(vinyl-pyrrolidone) (PVP), poly(vinylpyridine N-oxide) (PVPNO), and poly(vinylpyrrolidone-vinylimidazole) [P(VP/VI)].
