This paper presents the impact of microscopic simulation model calibration for the evaluation ofcoordinated actuated traffic signalized intersections. In doing so, the study utilizes field data andwidely used traffic signal optimization programs including TRANSYT-7F and Synchro. Theperformance evaluation of optimized signal timing plans is performed using VISSIM, amicroscopic simulation program. The simulation results indicate default microscopic simulationmodels (I.e., un-calibrated model) could mislead the performance of the signalized intersections.The results also indicate that optimization of timing plan under Synchro outperformsTRANSYT-7F in the simulation test network.
