COLOR BASED SEGMENTATION IN AUTOMOTIVEIMAGE PROCESSING USING HIS METRICS

This paper analyses the HIS representation of the data from typical automotivescenes and proposes a segmentation method based on the results. The advantages ofthe color processing are outlined in detail. The paper analyses the projection of thepoints on I axis, on S axis and on the SI plane. Metrics as functions of S and I areproposed. The relevance of the H component is shown. At the end, along with theresults, the specifics of the HIS space in automotive scenes are discussed showinghow to exploit them for a fast and robust segmentation of the scene.
