Overall, the results of the present study indicate that winter third- to fourth-instar larvae of C. plumosus have the following rank of sensitivity, expressed as mortality, to individual tested metals: Cu Cd > Zn > Al. The LC_(50) value for copper was 100-times lower than those for other metals tested. In metal pair combinations the interaction effect depends on metal concentration. When original metals (the metal ion according to which the interaction was determined) is at the lower concentration in a combination (Cd 10 mg L~(-1), Zn 25 mg L~(-1), Al 25 mg L~(-1), Cu 0.1 mg L~(-1)) the prevailing interaction is synergism. Contrarily, when the original metals is at the higher concentration (Cd 25 mg L~(-1), Zn 50 mg L~(-1), Al 50 mg L~(-1), Cu 1.0 mg L~(-1)) the prevailing interaction is antagonism. Additivity was confirmed for combinations Al_(25) + Cd_(10), Al_(25) + Cd_(25), Al_(25) + Cu_(0.1), Cu_(0.1) + Cd_(10), Cu_(0.1) + Cd_(25), Cu_(0.1) + Al_(50) and for combination Zn_(50) + Al_(50) the reciprocal additivity was observed.
