For this work on the electrochemical coating of high carbon steel wires (bead wires), a simple nickel and copper sulphate bath was used. Using 2.8 mm diameter wires, the time of the nickeling and coppering was varied from 5-60 s to find the optimal thickness of the coatings and their qualities. On the basis of statistical analysis of the research results, the optimal periods of both processes were found and the initial wires with 2.8 mm diameter were manufactured industrially with the optimal coatings of nickel and copper. Those wires were drawn to 0.94 mm diameter. Mechanical properties and surface roughness were determined for final and intermediate wires.
