This presentation provides details on how to develop and implement efficient and cost-effectivedistance education programs, including correspondence and online courses, to train operators andmanagers. The first step is to assemble a team of subject matter experts who employ operatorsand managers that need training to perform their jobs and advance in their profession. Theexperts develop a body of knowledge or need-to-know criteria for their employees. The body ofknowledge is then organized into a training curriculum. The subject matter is assembled intological topics that are easy to explain by instructional material and easy to understand byoperators and managers. The effectiveness of the training program can be measured in terms ofjob performance, facility performance, and success in achieving higher levels of certification.Results can be analyzed to identify needs and to determine how to improve the body ofknowledge and the training program.
