Several models exist for learning object reuse. Thesernmodels determine the taxonomy, granularity andrnaggregation and disaggregation options usually definedrnwithin a specific learning environment. We propose thatrnthe level of reusability for such objects can be improvedrnin most of these cases by 1) providing a common modelrnupon which all these organization and implementationrnspecific models may be built, 2) utilizing object orientedrndesign principles as the basis for learning object designrnand reuse, 3) defining the smallest grained learning objectrnaround a single learning outcome, 4) building all otherrnlearning objects from combinations of these smallerrnlearning objects. We therefore propose an object-orientedrngeneric learning object model (OOGLOM) which consistsrnof two basic classes from which learning objects can berncreated. The first class of learning objects is an atomicrnlearning object (ALO) and the second is a compositernlearning object (CLO). We review a few popular learningrnobject models highlighting some of their limitations andrnpossible improvements. Finally we show how thesernmodels as well as recommended improvements can bernimplemented using OOGLOM.
