1. A study was undertaken to analyse the effect of various forward speeds to rotor downwash velocities (Rotor downwash ratios, α ranging from 0.88 – 2.78) on the helo deck of a simplified frigate ship in a wind tunnel at IIT Delhi.rn1.1 The dynamic-interaction between the SFS and SRD were observed to be sensitive to ship speed and rotor downwash velocity.rn1.2 Provided valuable data on airwake/downwash interaction for Helo operations.rn1.3 Preliminary critical downwash velocity ranges identified for a landing spot – Similar studies for other locations may be undertaken.
