The Second Annual Microwave Gulf Outing 2015

The conditions the second weekend of the 2015 contest were much improved over 2014 weekend and it is suspected that similar results can be duplicated during late summer and early fall a large percentage of the time barring a distributive weather event such as Odile. None of the attempts with N2CEI and K4SME were successful from LA, MS, AL or the panhandle of Florida though WA5YWC did briefly hear N2CEI across the Gulf during one attempt at a distance in excess of 800 km. It is highly likely that WA5YWC, EL49xf, could have been worked further along the Gulf coast past Port St. Joe, Florida for an additional 100 km but we ran out of daylight. Of course the day after the second weekend of the contest the entire state of Florida was lit up bright red on the APRS MAP. Hopefully the elusive 800 km/500 mile QSO can be made on the band during the 2016 Contest.
