MONITORING SYSTEM OF CONCRETE DAMS IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Extra-high concrete dams in the Russian Federation are equipped with a monitoring system, permitting to collect, store and systematize the complete scope of instrumental, visual and special studies for subsequent analysis to specify a true pattern of dam and foundation static performance. A new calculation model, prepared from field observation data, is used for the development of criteria indices for the safety of structure and its elements. Converted into physical values, the measured data from field observations are compared with predicted values for decision making on structural performance and safety. A set of parameters under control is developed for each dam accounting for specific features of its behavior.
