KEYNOTE ADDRESS: EXEMPTION, CLEARANCE AND EXCLUSION: A RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION PERSPECTIVE

摘要

The scope of application of a regulatory system needs to be clearly defined in order to avoid inefficient use of regulatory resources. The concepts of exemption, exclusion and clearance, together with intervention exemption levels, have evolved with this objective. However, aspects of their application are unclear and the manner in which the terms are used is not consistent. The paper attempts to clarify this situation and provides some suggestions as to the direction of future work in this area.
