Dow’s sustainedrncommitment to achieving specific short-and-long-term energy efficiency goals is accomplishedrnthrough the company’s proven Energy Efficiency and Conservation Management System.rnBy committing to comprehensive goal setting, meticulous energy measurement, tracking andrnreporting, benchmarking, continuous efficiency improvement, utilization of energy bestrnpractices, and fully engaging employees, Dow exceeded its aggressive 2005 goals to reducernoverall energy intensity by 22 percent from 1995 to 2005. Over a 10-year period, Dow savedrnmore than $4 billion, conserved over 900 trillion Btus and mitigated an estimated 51 millionrnmetric tons of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas, which is like taking more than 6.5 million carsrnoff the road for one year.rnDow is currently working toward achieving its publicly announced 2015 Sustainability Goals,rnwhich include its commitment to reducing the company’s energy intensity by 25 percent by 2015rnand greenhouse gas intensity by 2.5 percent annually over the same 10-year period.
