The use of active feedback for identifiability enhancement of structural systems is investigated. Aiming at determining uniquely structural parameters from measured modal quantities, output-feedback control laws are designed to increase the eigenfrequency sensitivity to parameter variations. The natural frequency sensitivities to change in stiffness have been evaluated for a 3DOF shear-type structure both in open and closed loop cases. A sensitivity matrix norm is employed to measure the overall sensitivity as a function of the control gain. The results, confined to SISO case, show the existence of optimal control gain values where the sensitivity measure is maximized.
