The FW method was employed to model a complex granular flow problem involving static and moving machinery components of highly irregular geometry interacting with non-spherical particles. The operation of a particle metering unit was modeled and results compared with observations on an actual meter. There was good agreement between simulated and actual meter performance within the main operating range of the meter. It was concluded that the Finite Wall method is a flexible method of integrating machinery geometry and kinematics with particle dynamics simulation within a DE modeling framework.
