Towards a Web-Based Watershed-Level Rural Land Use Planning

A mock-up 'Web-based Decision Support System on rural Land Use Planning ― WebLUP' has been developed, using HTML image maps, to assist the district-level agricultural extension community in their decisions on selection of watersheds for various mandated schemes by displaying maps and making useful queries to aid decisions. WebLUP is a sequel to the PC-based Spatial Decision Support System for rural Land Use Planning (SDSS/LUP) which addresses a single district only. WebLUP is also intended to provide suggestions and hazard warnings for land use sustainability by combining data from the existing sources. The proposed system will be developed after involving and obtaining the informed-opinion from the users. The paper also discusses future resulting system.
