Tracking Accuracy Characteristics of the Long-Range Tracking Radar in NARO Space Center

Tracking radars, which provide time-space-position information for flight safety monitoring, have been developed and tested twice for long range application with KSLV-I launch vehicles during last couple of year. For using measurement data for flight safety purpose, tracking accuracy is one of the key parameters to be considered in design phase of tracking means. Tracking error coming from the tracking means is classified into noise error and bias. In this paper, measurement data of the tracking radar are presented up to 1,700 km coverage and noise error characteristics of the radar is analysed. In comparison with GPS data, tracking accuracy of the radar is evaluated and bias is analogized. Effect of atmospheric radio refraction in tracking error is discussed as well.
