Study on Flight Performance of Metal Flyer Plate Driven by Small Charge

摘要

The flight performances of different metal flyer plates driven by JO-9C booster with small charge diameter are measured by electromagnetic method. The load density of the booster is 90% of the theoretical density, and the charge diameters are 1.5mm, 3mm and 5mm with confinement of PMMA. The flyer plate materials are titanium, stainless steel and alloy of nickel and copper. The results indicated that it is feasible to measure the velocity of flyer plate driven by small size charge by using electromagnetic method. Titanium is more suitable to be used as flyer material comparing to stainless steel and alloy of nickel and copper. The angle α of effective charge is approximately 12.45? with the confinement of PMMA in open-face-sandwich configuration of Gurney model.
