The thermal behavior and non-isothermal decomposition reaction kinetics of the aluminized explosives based on RDX with different amounts of aluminum were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetry (TG-DTG). The results show that the amounts of aluminum is an important factor that affects the decreasing of apparent activation energy, improving the reaction rate and accelerating the thermal decomposition. As the amounts of aluminum increase, the exothermic peak temperature, apparent activation energy (E) and critical temperatures of thermal explosion (Tb) all decrease. The apparent activation energy of the four samples are: 1#: 201.64 kJ.mol-1; 2#: 198.75 kJ.mol-1; 3#: 193.26 kJ.mol-1; 4#: 185.36 kJ.mol-1;The corresponding critical temperatures of thermal explosion are: 1#: 219.55℃; 2#: 218.77℃; 3#: 215.22℃; 4#: 213.15℃. As the amounts of aluminum increase, the entropy of activation (ΔS≠) and enthalpy of activation (ΔH≠) decrease while the free energy of activation (ΔG≠) hardly changes.
