Modelling the Bio-scaffold for Repairing Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Defective Skull

The medical CT image processing technology and an improved MC algorithm are used to reconstruct the defective skull model. A novel implementation of filling hole method is presented to build surface that matches the macro-shape of the defective region of the skull. The final model of the skull scaffold is obtained by a micro-structure constructing method based on Boolean operation. The proposed method is implemented by programming, and the physical model is obtained by rapid prototyping process. Results show that the new implementation can be used to construct both symmetrical and unsymmetrical defective skull with proper macro-shape and micro-pore.
