Rheology control is important for many industrial materials, such as adhesives sealants and coatings. Typical commericial rheology modifiers are fine particulate materials which form a physical network in the materials, such as fumed silica. This mechanism works well initially but the effectiveness loses gradually during storage. The purpose of this study is to explore an alternative approach of rheology control, namely by means of reversible polymer gels. In this presentation poly(butylene terephthatate) (PBT) and poly(buiylene terephthatate) -poly(tetramethylene glycol) terephthalate bolck copolymers (PBT-b-PTMG) are used as rheology modifiers for epoxy resins. The Theological and mechanical properties of PBT and PBT-b-PTMG - modified epoxy resins are reported.
