EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CHINESE HERB EXTRACTS ON THE ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITIES AND SURFACE PROPERTIES OF NONWOVEN DRESSINGS

In this study, four Chinese herbs-Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Paeoniae Radix, Atractylodis Rhixoma, and Typhonii Rhizoma are selected and extracted to form Chinese herb extracts. We attempted to obtain the optimal extracted condition of Chinese herb extracts to increase the extracted amount and efficiency. The Chinese herb extracts were regarded as the useful components of dressing products. In addition, two spunlace nonwovens (Rayon and T/R) were used as matrix of the dressing. The nonwovens were treated by the Chinese herb extract to fabricate dressing products. Effects of different Chinese herbs and nonwovens on the moisture liberation and antibacterial property were investigated to understand the feasibility of Chinese herb extracts using on the dressing products. The antibacterial property of dressings is to examine the antibacterial activities with the extractive of four Chinese herbs using the different solvents against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus.
