Rock bumps occurrence during mining

摘要

Rock bumps occurrence during mining excavation is studied in this paper. The bumps appear to be a very significant danger to human life, particularly when the bumps influence the stability of a mine face. Although they may also appear inside the rock mass (because of local disturbance in the rock mass) the influence on the face is relatively small. The material in the earth may change in such a way that the final effect is negative for the safety of mining. The problem is studied both theoretically and on a special scale model. The results from both models are reasonably comparable.
