Atypical pronunciation of liquid /l/ by children

Monitoring of the children speech progress is very important for its overall mental development and incorporation in public life. Objectification of speech therapist work can be directed towards the monitoring of child speech progress or to a help for speech therapist during critical listening sessions. In the latter case, it is necessary to define the parameters for the detection of typical/atypical pronunciation of some sound. Analysis showed that the most frequent errors in pronunciation liquids / l / occur because of the wrong tongue position: either it is insufficient raised or tip of the tongue does not touch the alveolus. This atypical form of pronunciation has consequence in reduction of sound level in the frequency range from 2000 to 5000 Hz and this can be used as a discriminatory factor.
