An Innovative Partnership in Systems Engineering for Schools

Must the teaching of Systems Engineering be restricted to a postgraduate level? Evidence fromrnLoughborough University’s undergraduate course has taught us that this is not the case. So whyrnstop there? Can you teach systems engineering in schools – to children from 5 to 18 years?rnFocussing mainly on the secondary level (11-18 years), this paper look at some of the issues,rnsome of the UK-wide activities and at BAE Systems’s own programme of working with schoolsrnto bring the basics of systems engineering to the workforce of the future.
