The control and monitoring system for the upgraded terminal of the ESTU tandem has been commissioned, installed and tested. The system uses infra-red serial links to the external CAMAC control system and is configured to monitor a variety of analog signals and control the charge inductors. strippers, lenses and pumps in the terminal. Instrument calibrations have confirmed the inherent stability of the terminal voltage and the system has proved to be unaffected by surges from 18 MV terminal sparks.
