The selection of the conveying, stacking and reclaiming equipment requires not only determination of the width, speed and size requirements, but also the optimization of the layout and equipment interactions. This paper outlines the traditional methods of selection and sizing of conveying, stacking and reclaiming equipment as well as reviewing computer simulation techniques that are valuable tools in the detailed design of these systems. Selection and sizing equipment as a system produces a plant that minimizes capital and operating cost and maximizes availability.
