A facile approach to a new generation of chitosan-(acrylic acid)-magnetite nanospheres (CS-AA-Fe3O4) was demonstrated. TEM morphology indicated that magnetite nanoparticles (diameter about 20 nm) were embedded in CS-AA-Fe3O4 nanospheres (130 nm). Significant swelling of CS-AA-Fe3O4 was expressed and the hydrodynamic size of CS-AA-Fe3O4 was 330 nm. The CS-AA-Fe3O4 was non-toxic and tended to migrate into MG-63 cells via endocytosis. It has potential applications as drug delivery system.
