A field experiment was conducted for three years from 2004-05 to 2006-07 involving two plant crops and one ratoon crop. The experiment was conducted at the Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar to study the manurial utility of press mud cake (PMC) and fly ash in sugarcane crop in combination with chemical fertilizers and phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB). Integrated use of PMC and or fly ash favorably influenced the growth and yield of sugarcane. The crop fertilized with 50% recommended dose of chemical fertilizers along with PMC, fly ash and PSB in 1:2 ratio or 2:1 ratio produced significantly higher cane yield and sugar yield than that of the recommended dose of NPK. However, application of 75% of the recommended NPK + fly ash @ 10 t ha~(-1) and PMC @ 10 t ha~(-1) + PSB further improved cane yield by 26.7% and sugar yield by 30.9% over recommended dose of NPK. This indicated that application of 10 t ha~(-1) PMC and 10 t ha~(-1) Jly ash can substitute 25% of the recommended dose of NPK sugarcane crop.
