摘要

Multipoint Approximation optimization technique based on Response Surface methodology (MARS) was applied to the design of a side rocker beam of a DutchEVO car (multidisciplinary design project of a concept car at Delft University of Technology). MARS was used in combination with material selection in order to minimize the weight of the rocker. Results of sizing optimization of the rocker beam were compared for several groups of materials. Two- and four-design-variable optimization tasks have been solved under three-constraint functions including buckling of the beam structure. In order to reduce computation time, a mechanistic approximation approach was implemented into the MARS optimization procedure.
