1. How robust are determination of stiffness parameters, both elastic and at intermediate strains? 2. Do drained laboratory tests have any value in engineering practice? 3. How can we measure values of permeability which will be useful in design? In his introductory overview, David Nash raised a question about interpretation of bender elements. At Imperial College we use time domain and frequency domain techniques and we get similar values from both methods on samples of London Clay. The frequency domain measurements were made using the n point method and were within a few percent of what we got using the time domain approach.
