Risk-Based Design-A Comparison of the Agbami and Captain FPSOs

The Captain FPSO in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf(UKCS) and the Agbami FPSO in the Gulf of Guinea, areexamples of two upstream FPSO oil and gas developments.This paper will highlight how these designs, which beganfrom the same core design codes and standards, wereoptimized to mitigate the local health, environment and safetyrisks. This optimization was achieved through risk baseddesign.
