In Brazil, some substances are not allowed to be added torncommercialised fuel, because their use would imply taxrnevasion, since these substances are not taxed.rnTherefore, monitoring the quality of commercialised fuel is arnvery important issue. This work presents and discusses therninfluence of the addition of different proportions of n-paraffin,rnmainly n-hexane, kerosene and diesel oil on the distillationrnprofile and octane number of automotive gasoline. The resultsrnshow that it is possible to add non-allowed substances whilernkeeping the automotive gasoline within specification limits.rnThis means that much research should be undertaken in orderrnto establish methodologies that can allow inference of thernpresence of such substances through physicochemicalrnanalyses, even at low concentrations.
