World famous for its romantic cliche of ruined temples abandoned under an heavy tropical forest, the site of Angkor has been usually known and investigated through its monumental or stylistic aspects, coupled with the very limited remaining historical sources. Since its introduction in the Twenties in Angkor, remote sensing however has played an active role in the development of the understanding of the civilization that built this gigantic monumental complex. In the last decade, remote sensing has been also used to build up the management plan needed for this site to be inscribed on the World Heritage List. But
