SOFC RESEARCH IN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION: THE IEA SOFC ANNEX

Solid Oxide Fuel Cells are arguably the most promising type of fuel cells, but also requiring massive research and demonstration effort. Therefore, already in 1990, the international community has started to cooperate under the IEA umbrella as Annex II to the Implementing Agreement for a Program of Research, Development and Demonstration on Advanced Fuel Cells.rnPhase 1 has been completed and reported in 1992, the results of phase 2 is summarized here: stack modeling benchmark tests were performed, round-robin cell measurements compared, procedures were developed and documented and studies on microscale processes and stack evaluation systems completed. A new program is in operation since January 1996.
