ADDITIONAL EXPLOITATION OF SOLAR POWER IN AN ANCIENT ISTRIAN HOUSE

Updated type of the Istrian house is based on the three hundred years old type of a house construction. The process of modernization has preserved the main characteristics of the ancient littoral houses, as the way of its ventilation and natural air-conditioning of the rooms. Its century-old symbiosis with the surrounding vineyards has been proved. The narrow window openings have been enlarged to the reasonable size. When the old houses have been restored the same old materials have been used whenever it was possible. Such restored house, for a relatively small household, has been supplied with a Solar System for the domestic water heating and the solar cells to produce the electrical power. The solar cells have been connected to the local power network by means of static inverter. The appropriateness of such upgrade was assessed, prior to analyzing the energy consumption. The energy consumption reduction from the common power sources has been stated. Such common power sources are: the fuel oil with a low sulphur rate and the local network power.
