FUNCTION, APPLICATION AND HANDLING OF HOT STAMPING FOILS

Now that I have probably scared everyone away from hot stamping I would like to make clear that my purpose is to raise your awareness of the possible problems that can occur and how to prevent problems as well as solve a few as well. With decorating any part or packaging component whether it is a hot stamp or a print, deco is usually the final process so you are at the mercy of the preceding processes. So with my article I am merely pointing out many of the possible problems that can be easily overlooked. In today's manufacturing, we are so hurried by deadlines, part counts, shift performance, and many other distractions that it is getting harder to pay attention to the obvious. Much of what is written in the article is very obvious information all of us already know, it just seems sometimes that we need to see it written out for us to process it in our heads. Hot stamping as a form of decoration is a very clean and very efficient means to an impressive image. The decorating equipment technology of today is amazing and tooling has come a long way over the years. Hot stamping foil technology has come along way as well in the past ten years. We don't have the "Miracle Foil" yet but we are looking for it and we are learning more every day.
