Activity of FXIIa Preadsorbed to Procoagulant Surfaces

The procoagulant activity of FXIIa in solution was compared to FXIIa adsorbed on hydrophobic PS substrate and a moderately hy-drophilic amine-PS substrate. The amine-PS surface appears to have enhanced enzymatic activity, although this could also result from a combination of protein and material activation. Further studies are underway to separate the two potential sources of enzyme activity.
