摘要

Cells which have the capacity to differentiate towards a smooth muscle phenotype can be isolated from the bone marrow. The use of these cells in tissue-engineering or regenerative medicine requires an understanding of their response to the extracellular environment. We show here that scaffolds composed of fibrillar collagen would promote smooth muscle progenitor cell differentiation and viability over those composed of monomeric collagen.
