Evaluation of the Crack Behaviour in a Bimetallic Weld

This paper presents the study on the behaviour of a part-through circumferential crack at the interface of a PWRpressuriser bimetallic weld, under a four-point bending load, taking into account the residual stresses due tofabrication. It was conducted in the framework of an European project called BIMET, where the bimetallic weld wastested under the same loading conditions. Three-dimensional elasto-plastic analyses were made using local as well asglobal approaches and results are compared with those obtained experimentally.
