A new analytical method is introduced for determining the core distortion and mechanical behavior in fast breederreactors (FBRs). In this method, a folded plate structure divided into many shell elements is used to describe each singlehexagonal sub-assembly duct. In this paper, the numerical model of the ARKAS_cellule code is introduced, and a validationresult of the code is presented by means of comparison with the experimental values obtained by NNC (in the UK) using anex-reactor rig named CRUPER, in which a cluster of 91 short ducts is compacted by moving 30 rams, mounted surroundingthe cluster, toward the center of the cluster step by step with seven intervals. All of the ram loads and the duct gaps aremeasured for each interval.
