The blue emission of CaS:Pb films using tetraethyl lead as Pb precursor in ALD process was very sensitive to the growth conditions due to the preferential clustering among Pb~(2+) ions. From the measurements of luminescence properties of the films, the color coordinates of blue emission were dependent on the Pb-concentration, the growth temperature and the thicknesses of PbS layer in Pb-doped CaS films. Consequently, the active Pb center must be controlled to be smaller aggregated states, preferably dimer, for synthesizing a good blue EL phosphor.
