Pursuant to the enactement of federal legislation, the U.S. Departement of Energy (DOE) is presently evaluating Yucca Mountain as a candidate site for a repository to store spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and high-level radioactive waste (HLRW). Risk analyses could be used to supprt transportation decisions (Such as route and moe selection) pertaining to the repository program. THis paper presents a case study of Lincoln COuntry, Nevada to discuss the significance of input data required to support risk analysis (Sathisan and Madhavapeddi 1994). Specificanlly, the methodology adopted to obvtain the key input data indicative of local conditions along transport corridors and the results obtained using the same are discussed.
