This paper deals with the idea of the reaction rate and with the application of the recursive least-squares method to the estimation of its value at discrete moments of time in the chemical CSTR. The estimation procedure needs feedback from easily measurable parameters and has been derived on the basis of the general form of the state equation written for the substrate concentration. The simulation results show good convergence of the estimated value to the "true" value in the presence of the disturbances changes, even in the case of the open-loop instability of the considered chemical process.
