What should geotechnical professionals be able to do?

Geotechnical professionals (geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists) should havernskills that enable them to deliver designs of groundworks using information from ground investigations andrnclient requirements, often in collaboration with structural engineers and other construction professionals. To dornso they need core skills that can be assessed in terms of the tasks that they can do competently. This paperrnpresents the author’s perspective on the core skills required of geotechnical professionals and indicates at whatrnstage of their education and training these skills should be acquired.
